sibilance frequency?

I've got a spoken vocal with a lot of S's in it. I can usually fudge the pronunciation to get rid of it when I'm singing, but that technique is not working with the spoken vocal(it just sounds really bad). I'm hoping to zero in on the frequency of those nasty "ssssssss" things and notch the bastards out. Is this possible? If so, what is the general frequency at which they occur?

Get a notch filter, or good parametric. Crank the gain, and sweep through the spectrum (you'll probably be somewhere around 2k-5.5k). When you hear that note whistling at you, that's the frequency you want to cut. Narrow your Q as much as you need and cut it as much as you need.
