Should I buy 49 or 61 keys controller?

I'm to start the midi adventure.

I'm goiing to buy my first-ever non-string instrument: Edirol PCR-500 or PCR-800 midi keyboard controller.

Which one would you recommend for a total beginner in keyboard area?

That means I need to learn playing the keyboard from scratch.

Then I'll use it for triggering some soft synths in Sonar DAW.

So: 49 or 61 keys?

I wasn't a total beginner when I got a Kontrol 49, but I've been very happy with it. Maybe if I were thinking about gigging on kb, I'd want 61 keys. But for recording and control surface use 49 has been fine by me.
