SG special vs. SG standard

can anyone explain the difference between the gibson sg special and the sg standard? is the cheaper one just a crappy knock off, or is it worth the money?

The Standard is much more nicely appointed but you'd have to play both of them to determine your own sound and feel preferences.

they have different bridge pickups.......the 498 is a higher output pickup than the 490.........and the standard looks a little better.....i imagine they would only sound a little different......but i don't know for sure.......the 498 will distort sooner because it's higher output
