Selling my custom guitar? (how to)

So i've been building a few guitars and they turned out quite nicely indeed. I would really like to sell these guitars for profit. What suggestions do people have about this business.

Should I bring it to my local guitar store and sell it on consignment? How does one get his name out there?

thanks

Sign me up as an endorsor... I'll take a free guitar and record with it, gig with it, and have photos of me playing it and loving it.. sound like a plan?

Seriously though, I'd bet that getting a few axes at a local shop would be a great way to start. I know my non-franchised local shops carry custom guitars. The one shop does do consignment, the other buys them and keep 2 or 3 on hand.

Another good place to try and get in good with is musician's hotline magazine. They specialize in handmade guitars and amps.
I read an article in the current issues about the largsest handmade guitar dealer in the world.. Ed Roman Guitars, out of Las Vegas:

Getting some reviews from Musician's Hotline would be great publicity. http://www.musicianshotline.com/

Hope that helps!

I have been buying and selling guitars on E-bay for a few months now. I've had a fair amount of success. Since you are building custom guitars, you should give as much detail as possible regarding materials and construction. It's fairly robust community, but you are going to have to be creative, since you are not selling a trademarked name. Take a look at the guitars for sale for comparative puposes. What is your price range?
