self-powered stereo microphones

I am thinking of buying a nifty M-audio Transit external usb port 24/96 reocrding/playback device to go with a laptop and note that it has"line/optical input accommodates self-powered stereo microphones"
Does "self powered" mean a mic going through a desk with phantom power?!! I have a pair of Studio Projects B1 microphones which I run throuhg a Mackie mixer at home on my main computer.

also, I am pretty new to this and would like to know more about the joys of stereo microphone recording acoustic guitar. Any threads to this anywhere?

Cheers

you COULD run the tape-out from the mackie through an rca-1/8" adapter cable into the Transit. but that's kinda' a weak way to go about it. I think that the stereo mics they refer to are like this one. But the mixer tape-out is still a viable way to go if you need to capture a whole band or live show direct off the mics on-stage.
