S&M- New mix

Hello helping people,

I´ve listened to the comments of everybody and
made a new mix,

what i´ve did: re-panned some things, put some high
gain on vocals and mid/high gain over the drums (to
see if it sounded more close that is was. Am I going
the right way? The shitty flanger guitar still the same yet.
What you guys think about the guitars and bass volumes?

If you guys think it´s worth to keep helping me, please
listen to it and tell me what you think now. Maybe I can
make it much better than it is now.

Thanks a lot.

I think the lead vocals are a bit hard to understand.
You should try compressing them and bringing them1 up in the mix a bit.
Everything else sounds great imo.
I like the snare sound.

I missed the first mix, so I am just gonna comment based on this one....

basically good song.... I don't really liket this style of music but the whole song sounds smooth to me... :)

The vocal is still pretty low and doesn't come out of the mix.... I think you don't have a good vocal track to start with anyway... mainly cos of the singer, it doesn't have the volume or energy.... (at first I wasn't gonna comment on the singing, but then I realised you guys have "singer" in your band, so I am gonna be more critical) :)

the best part I like is the bass. Really like the tone, how did you do the bass? really love to know! :)

BTW, what's with all this Japanese naming thing? :)

Man there's some cool stuff in here today.

This is very shannon hoon...made me feel good. Very creative vocal effects. I kind of liked how the vocals were set back because it made it sound kinda live....in fact the entire mix is kinda mushy and sounds live. Granted that might not be what you're going for. I saw Blind Melon live in like '93, an outdoor show...and this reminded me of it for some reason.

I'd lose the guitar solo; well played but cliche. Everything else I like a lot!

Hello Slackmaster,

Thanks a lot for your comments man! It´s really
good to listen to some positive comments sometimes,
along with the critics also, of course. Yes, the guitar solo
is too much cliche but it was the result of something that
I was trying to be able to play at home and in live shows,
note for note. Maybe it would be just better to let the
tape roll and free my fingers and mind instead of studying
every note, sounding cliche. That reminds me 3days of
Jane´s Addiction, I don´t want my music to be mistaken
with copies, so, I must change that very soon.

Thanks man.

Hello man,

Thanks for your comments. I´m taking all this vocal
quality comment, so, please be as critical as you can
be. In your opinion, taking the vocal problem away, is
the rest just fine? It was funny because you asked about
the bass recording. I just think that I don´t know how to
record a good bass. It was done pluggedf directly, playing
with the e.q. after that. Some compressor also. but everything
without planning, just playing with the buttons.

Senryoku is the name of our band. The origin of the name
Senryoku is a long story, I can tell you in private if you´d
like to listen.

Thanks man!

Helo Keijo,

Thanks for your comments. It really helps. I definetly will
raise the vocals in the next mix I´ll do. Seems like 80% of
the guys makes some comment about the vocals... so,
there might be a problem. The snare sound was very
creepy at first, I just played with the e.q. leves up there
at the very high gains.

Thanks man.

Hello everybody sending me your comments,
I´ve remixed it again, trying to give clairty to
the vocals (everybody commented about it)
and some better sound to the main guitar.
The vocal is louder now.

Thanks a lot dudes!

shannon hoon..yeah i couldnt think of his name in my other post..same kinda vocal style

i've recorded an ibanez sdgr bass (active pu) thru a tube pre with a hint of eg from a pedal and get a good sound...GHS bass boomer strings..but i've been told it's my playing style that helps it cut thru..i dont follow a guitar line mostly...

that p-bass sound eric got with JA was always nice...kinda "hollow" sounding...

but this latest mix is getting there i think..it sounds good to me..but i'm an idiot musician lol..

Hello dude,

Yeah, Eric´s bass sound was amazing. Reminds me
new order, joy division, love and rockets very much.
I mean, you just change the bass player, for a finger
picking one and there will be no difference? We can listen
to it when Flea is on Bass, Jane´s is 75% complete.
More of his cool Bass work can be found in the Polar Bear
stuff, which is very hard to find in regular stores, maybe
somewhere on the net.

Thanks man,
