Running Multiple Soundcards

I need more than two recording inputs and was thinking of adding a 2nd card to my PC.

Anybody out there currently doing this?

Any problems inherent to recording with multiple cards simultaneously?

Thanks!

That depends .....
What soundcards are you planning to use?
Will the software you use allow using multiple drivers?
If there are of the same kind and type of soundcard, will the driver recognize both cards?
How do you plan to sync the two cards?

Within those questions are some issues you may run in to.

The two problems you'll need to look out for are Synchronization, and interrupts. The two cards need to be able to sync to each other, or one to the other, either via their drivers (probably only works if both cards are from same manufacturer), or by sharing a clock either by wordclock or S/PDIF cable.
The interrupt issue is just a matter of your computer having an IRQ available for the new soundcard that isn't shared by something else that will end up causing pops and clicks.

I have an old Gina 20bit card and was thinking of picking up a 2nd one so I'll have 4 inputs instead of 2. Just not sure if it will work.

Looks like I'll have to try it to find out.
