Hi all, I used to record a lot with my RME Fireface 800. I bought it Used on ebay and got about 2 years daily use out of it until 1 day for no apparent reason it stopped working ..

I shipped it to the distributor who sent it back to the German factory where they concluded that the motherboard has been damaged and would have to be replaced at a cost of £350

I'm in two minds whether or not to pay it as I never used half of the features on it.

I'd like to get into Pro Tools and have been looking at different M Audio interfaces. Can any one suggest a good interface. I have a budget of around £200 and preferably I'd like to get the software with this as well.

My needs would be at least 4 inputs of which 2 would have to have mic pre's.

Thanks

Eamon

Your best option is to get the Fireface 800 fixed.

It's a superb unit and your budget will not get you anything anywhere near as good.

I's worth it for the converters alone, never mind the other bits.

It's like saying "I can't afford to repair the Merc. so I'll buy a Trabant"
