Try NOT to compare to hardware based effect, you'll find it's cool plugin !!! I got the full version & lite version (comes with SONAR CD). The only downside is it needs super soundcard with super driver to play on direct mode. The latency is quite annoying sometime on cheap card. But if you use it as DXi plugins in SONAR, it's really worth the price (IMHO) Nice toy to play around

I have heard that the Line 6 Guitar Port is great for amp modeling and all you need to plug in is a USB port.

Right now I have to go through my multi-effects board/pedal to my preamp and into my soundcard. Works for me but I like what I have heard about Line 6.
