...because it caught a virus . The problem(s) I am having is that it won't read my boot floppy or cdrom. It knows that they exist but won't start from there.
I am however, able to install xp from cdrom, I know that works. The problem is that its a copy of xp I am already using, so I can't actually use it. (Not that I would). The reason I did this was to see if it was reading the cdrom, and it is.
Is this a problem with my boot floppy?...hmm I've tried downloading a bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com , but it won't read that either. It's been awhile since I did this and correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I was supposed to boot from that floppy, after I had formatted the harddrive.
One last note, it's a compaq , and I was getting a *1782-disk controller failure* error, leading me to suspect mobo issues. However, it now reads the freshly installed xp drive with no hangups.
WTF?
