Depends on what you mean by "worth it." R2R maintenance is a PITA and pretty pricey in the grand scheme. A calibration tape alone would cost more than double what the deck would cost.

That said - If you're pretty handy and just want something to fool around with, it's probably not bad if it's in good shape. 7.5IPS max speed isn't going to help you if you ever want to send mixes out somewhere though...
 
I actually intended to try to add a playhead and turn it into a tape-loop machine. I figured if I screwed it up I wouldn't lose much.

We have another reel-to-reel in the studio, an old otari machine that works pretty well. But we mostly record digital as it's easier and we just want rough mixes of songs in practice. Nothing pro.
