Recording out of headphone jack? Good idea / Bad idea?

Hey everybody - I have a very "newb" question for you...

I recently bought a Fostex MR-8 and want to record direct out of my guitar amp / keyboard... but the problem is... neither of them have line out jacks. On the bright side, they DO have headphone jacks, and I have all the cables / adapters I need to get the signal down to 1/4" mono.

SO - is it a bad idea to try to record out of headphone jacks, and if not - how can I go about doing it without blowing out my poor MR-8? Thanks! =)

Try it.....im pretty sure it will sould like crap though.

It wont (shouldnt) blow your fostex, being as i think heaphones operate at very low power.

Ever plugged speakers into a headphone jack?

Just get a freaking sm-57 and mic the amp's.
