i know i could probably learn how to do this if i actually read
about it but i'll be lazy and start here.

i need to record midi drums from a yamaha dtxpress electric drum kit into sonar 2...i have the midi cables, a midisport usb...i guess i just do the loop with the midi chords from the drumkit through the usb midisport, connect the usb cable to my computer and set
sonar on channel 10....right?

how do i sequence in sonar...what do i use to organize my sounds?

i'm wanting to just use the drum sounds from the kit and then use sonar to organize a drum pattern....kinda like a drum machine
i guess...

First off, midi is data only not audio.
You may record you drum patterns in midi then tie your drum modules audio out to the audio in of your soundcard and playback the midi tracks which in turn will trigger the drum module. You can then record the audio track of the midi track and save it as a wav file. Looping is another ballgame. You will need to learn how to cut and copy into your sequencer to create loops properly. This will take practice if you intend to create your own loops.
