Hey gang, have a question for you. I'm helping a buddy put together a recording rig. I was going to go with a MAudio card as I'm familiar with it and the ASIO drivers. I always get nice 5ms when monitoring. However, he doesn't really have any good pre's so I thought I would go ahead with the PreSonus FP10 and kill one bird with two stones.
1) How will this effect when monitoring? I know when I've used my onboard sound in the past, I'd get crazy latency numbers using the WDM (?) drivers. I've not used the direct monitoring function before.. does it play prerecording tracks along with the live tracks at zero latency? Seems fishy to me.
2) Is there a better(price equal) option that what I'm thinking? He wants to be able to record at least 8 at one time.
