Recording Horns

Hey folks, it's me again.

I'm having an issue recording a trombone and tenor sax simutaneously.

We're clipping the hell out of the mic. We're recording into an Aardvark Q10 with an Sm58. Any suggestions? We've turned the gain way down but then we start losing the quality of the room. We're clipping even if we put the trombone back 6 feet.

Got any ideas? I'm all ears.

compression and a limiter should do the trick.

Losing the quality of the room? Well, you could turn the gain down on the 57, and add another room mic, like a large diaphram condensor in a sweet spot.
