I know a parent who wants to setup a podcast for her sons junior high school. They want it to sound professional. This is in La jolla san diego, so it is a very wealthy school and there is some money to spend on equipment.

Any recomendations from the bottom up?
1) Computer- Im thinking a G4 or G5
2) Software- Which is easy to use but still powerful. would garageband be suitable. Remember its for kids.
3) Interface/soundcard-I have no idea, probably something with at least a couple mic/line inputs with at least decent preamps. SOuncard?
4) A simple midi controller and a software synth sampler etc-Ive seen some decent cheap controllers and maybe Reason
5) Mics-maybe a couple of sm57 cheap, rugged and adaptable
6) headphones-don't need to be fantastic
7) anything else for podcatsing-i have no idea what is invlolved in that

Thanks!

Ill suggest that. I think I was going to go in and teach them the basics myself because those books can get a little technical. Garageband is so simple it would be really easy to learn.

What is involved in podcasting and what interface would work well?
