Recording 10 Channels Simultaneously to PC for around $1000 used market

The goal is to record 8 direct outs and the stereo bus from a mixer. I'm looking to get the best quality I can for around $1000.

Alesis HD24, $800 used. The $200 left over can go to the necessary cabling. Add a stereo mic and a 2-channel mic pre and you can get the ambience/audience as well and still have a dozen inputs available.

Excellent. Looks like the XR model is the way to go.

I looked at the A&H Ice-16 before but forgot about it.

I think they discontinued the XR so they might be hard to find. I assume you know they only do 12 tracks at the higher sample rates. There may be upgrade cards around. Be aware that with the standard HD24 the 44.1kHz clock is notoriously inaccurate. It's fine at 48kHz and the XR converters are accurate at all sample rates.
