I'm looking for an rack mount multi-effects processor to record various African and Latin hand drums (World Fusion), and also for Native American flutes.

Using a Lexicon MPX 550 now, but . . . I don't know, it seems kind of crappy to me--it adds unintended flanging effects and plenty of noise.

Primary needs are reverb for the flutes, and chorus, reverb, and delay for the drums. Two channels would be great. An older unit that I can pick up used for say, under $500 would be ideal. Should be stout enough to handle occasional outside gigs. I already have hardware compressors for the drums.

Can you recommend a versatile effects processors that would be worth looking at?

Thanks!

Take a look at the Kurzweil Rumour.

All the reviews I've seen for it were very strong and promising. They say its effects sound rich and lush.

I'm surprised to hear you are having a problem with a Lexicon 550. Those are supposed to be pretty solid units. I would recommned the big brother PCM 80 which used costs about $600 used on Ebay. No noise and no flangeing coming from my unit.
