Radio station effects/job help

There are lots of companies out there that specialise in music and effects for radio, TV and films (but not many free ones!).

Online, try:

SOUND DOGS

THE SOUND EFFECTS LIBRARY

Both those let you buy clips one at a time for downloading.

Or, for free stuff, try:

THE FREESOUND PROJECT

(You'll even find a few of my effects there...)

If you get really involved in this sort of thing, there are some big CD collections you can buy and/or subscribe to but they cost muchos moolah.

Or, you'll be amazed what you can do with a mic and a bit of creativity (and some MIDI).

Thank you Bobbsy! Those are great, do you know what the name of the effect sound in the example listed from 0:22 to 0:32 is?

That's the trick--finding a search term for an abstract sound.

On Freesound, have a search on "Whoosh". You'll get a bunch and some might be things you could play with to emulate that sound.

Or, a second option (assuming Cubase can do things like this) would be to generate some white noise then play with it using some kind of pitch bender, maybe editing in the stutter effect. I just had a play in Audition (which is what I use) and came moderately close in two or three minutes of playing.

Frankly, it's things like this that I find really fun playing with--enjoy yourself!

aah right, can you get audition for mac..i'll have a pkay around defeinetly..thanks for the sites they seem great!
