There's a 1 inch gap, roughly, between the top of the wall frame and the bottom of the ceiling joist and I was wondering if you should put any insulation on top of the frame or if that will defeat the purpose? Just because my wall will be beside the furnace which is noisy so I'm wondering if this gap above the frame will compromise some airborne noise from the other side of the wall or if it doesn't really matter so long as I have dense drywall covering the frame on both sides. Sorry if it's a stupid question.
