Quick pro tools editing question. Thanks :)

OK, ive been looking everywhere for the answer and I cant find it, and it seems so simple.

I have a little fuzz in my mic between vocal parts in a track. All I want to do is delete the parts in between.

But when I cut or delete the track slides over and keeps the vocals from being on the beat.

More or less this is what it looks like when i mess with it...


singing...singing....singing.....

when i cut

singingsingingsingingsinging

when i want it to look like

singing singing singing

Any help??

you've got yourself it "shuffle" edit mode. This means that when you move/edit a region, it will automatically stick itself next to the closest region. Change your edit mode to "slip". You can find the different mode-button selectors in the top left-hand corner of Pro Tools, or use the F1 thru F4 buttons to select the right mode.
