question on usb microphones

Unless it's broke.

Or you don't have the right software.

Or you don't have a computer / USB capatible device.

Or ..........

yes.... but, unless you're doing simple spoken word voice type stuff, I'd get an actual real interface and a quality mic. my 2c. :)

You need an interface that is FULL DUPLEX for music type recording. That is to say that it can INPUT and OUTPUT at the same time (and keep the two separate). USB mics are generally INPUT ONLY.

Let's try again- Yeah most digital mics are just for Podcasters, and then there are those others:

And for **Really Serious** Podcasters:

For ordinary po' folk, the best of the lot may be the Samson G-track. At least you get a headphone jack, separate a line/instrument in, a level indicator, and a volume control, more like a real interface. Another alternative is B.L.U.E. Yeti, which gives you multipattern options, including stereo:

Frankly, if you're not going to get something with a headphone jack, just get an inline adapter/convertor, such as:

That way, you can use any mic you want, and when you upgrade, you won't have a useless USB mic.

Or-be a *real man*, and buy a Solution D! Then people will know you are truly committed to digital microphones (or at least you were committed)-Richie
