Question : Midi/Sequencing/Sampling...

I'm new to production... (well, at least the recording aspect of it). I have a Yamaha Snyth (strictly a synth, no sequencer built in) and it also acts as a midi controller.

I want to be able to loop and sequence what I play by hand with the Yamaha, and turn it into a quantized, chopped and looped track.

What additional devices do I need, along with my Midi Controller?

P.C. and Software is not an option for me.

Thanks ahead of time!

honestly, i'd like to spend less than 300.00

that machine looks nice, but double what i need.

I'll sacrifice to get what I need. I just want to be able to be able to loop (along with quantize and sequence) my hand played beats.

Plus ill be midi-linking this to my Dj-X (to control the keys/synth) and to my Alesis Sr-16 (to do my drums) and then to my Roland Vs 840Ex (to record the mixdown).

Your budget is definitely going to limit your options here. From what you've stated the only device I could recommend would be a standalone hardware sequencer. Here's a link for the Roland MC-50 MicroComposer. This should do the trick and it's only $160. I don't use this device but I believe it has 8 sequencer tracks and floppy disk storage.

Here's a link for another sequencer, the Alesis MMT-8. I don't use this device either but I've heard people make recommendations on it. It also 8 sequencer tracks I believe, not sure on the storage.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
