does this change the sound or anyting? i know its look more professinal to me but do u guys put ur mics upside down? i use a ksm44 love it to death

i guess it gets the mic stand out the way. Tube mics are pretty heavy so maybe you cant just run a long boom like normal

just a thought

I always put mine upside down for two reasons,

1: the performer cant accidentally hit the mic cable.
2: I can put my music stand there with no problems.

Well I know there are tons of other reasons like to keep the heat out of the capsule if you are using a tube mic and so on and so on.

Upside down is fine as long as it is securely fastened in its shockmount/holder. It should make no difference in the sound. Now tilting or angling it towards the singer in different ways will make a difference in the sound....
Edit - yes I've heard about the heat affect with tubes too - not sure about that.
