Hello all,
I'm in the process of upgrading my home studio and I'm not sure how to hook up the following Digi 002. iMac 27" (latest), Glyph 050Q HD.
The new iMacs only have one Firewire 800 port, the 002 has 2 firewire 400 ports and the Glyph has 1 400 port and 2 800 ports.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You will most likely have to run the whole chain at FW400 by using this:

http://www.amazon.com/moshi-FireWire-800-400-adapter/dp/B002JH3TW8

The order should be iMac<-002<-Glyph

You may be able to use a Firewire 800 hub and split off the 002 and Glyph into separate chains (002 on FW400 chain with adapter and Glyph on FW800 chain plugged directly into the hub), but I don't know if that would still make the iMac's FW controller default to FW400.

No, it would not. if you're on a hub, the only communication that would be limited to FW400 speeds would be the communication between the computer and the slower device.

You could also probably chain the interface off the FW400 port on the drive and use it as a hub, assuming your audio interface's FireWire silicon/firmware/drivers aren't buggy.

That's what a salesman at Sweetwater Sound told me. He said I should go iMac(800)<Glyph(400)<002

But, I read somewhere it wasn't good to mix 400 with 800??????

hmmm.
