Problems with WDM Drivers

I've noticed a rash of posts lately about soundcard driver problems- especially with WDM drivers. I've had some (many) problems with this myself lately.

I'm using Win2k on an Althlon 2100MHZ system with the VIA chipset. I noticed whenever I load the drivers for my soundcard, (ESI Waveterminal 192m) I get a rash of errors in my event log about Windows File Protection. I'm wondering if my problems would be solved by turning off windows file protection. I haven't had a chance to test my theory yet but I will soon.

Have any of you guys seen or tried this?

Yes, I had lots of problems with my VIA-chipset mobo.

The sollution for me was to install the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers. :)
