problems with audio CD-R's

When I burn an audio CD on my computer, the last couple of tracks get distorted (there's some hissing, etc.). I've tried using different types of CD-R's, so it's not that, and I've used a couple kinds of software. Has anyone else encountered this problem? What do you recommend, if anything?

Do they sound the same no matter what CD player you hear them on?

Have you tried:

1. burning at a slower speed?
2. using better quality CD-R blanks?

Sounds like a cheap CD burner. If all CD brands do the same thing and different software doesn't solve the problem I would look at the burner as a suspect.
