problems upgrading mr8 OS software????

How do i get the new updated software from my computer to the MR8?? I'm using Windows 98 (second edition) and the instructions i downloaded mention nothing of how to do this....do I use the usb cable???

the instructions say to go to "menu" go to "system" go to "USB" blah, blah, blah this doesn't seem to pertain to me???

I had it all together except for the "holding down the stop button while powering back up"
