Problem with reel to reel

I'm having a little probelm with my tascam 388......for some reason the right channel of my machine coming through very very quiet on playback. I know it's not my monitors because the meters aren't moving at all on the mixer. any suggestions?

If you've tried substituting both the cable from the deck to the mixer and tried a different mixer input channel, and neither of those tests helped, it then sounds like the title to this thread is the answer to your question :D.
