Pro Tools Free Crashes! For me anyway...

Last night I downloaded "Pro Tools Free" from http://www.digidesign.com/ for Windows 98 and installed it okay. Buuuutttt.... Everytime I go to click on a file menu or any menu for that matter, it crashes to black and my freakin' machine boots and runs it's scan program. Arrrrr!

Anyone ever have this problem? Maybe it is a soundcard issue. Any thoughts on Pro Tools Free?
 
From what I've heard, PT Free is substantially less stable than...uh, it should be. Probably not your fault...
 
Agreed...never expect anything free to be top notch.
Although thats a sure fire way to discourage possible sales.

True. I am new at these PC audio tools. You would think that success of the P T Free would lead someone like me to buy their top notch stuff in the future. Anyway, I'll dig around to see where my problem may lie.
 
If you can, try turning off your graphics acceleration. If ptFREE works after that, you have a video driver problem. I use ptFREE, and I find that its stability varies greatly depending on the video driver I use. With the right driver, it's nearly rock solid.
