pro tools compatability

Question: Can one use the Protools software with an interface other than digidesign? I have an echo mia card and was wondering if I could use the protools software with it.

Theirs a freeware version you could use but I'm pretty sure you must be using digidesign hardware for pro tools LE or pro tools to work.
 
You will not be able to use the Echo mia with protools


You can use any interface with protools LE that has an ADAT optical interface. With LE, you have to use the 001 or the 002 interface for output, but for input you can also use anything that has ADAT optical interface.
 
Digi only plays with its own hardware. The one exception being their free version which only runs on Windows 98 and is limited to 8 tracks.
