PreSonus Firepod vs. Alesis io 26

im looking for a nice firewire mixer at the $400 range
the 8 inputs are crucial
and the firewire is crucial

Id be running it with a macbook and logic

Ive heard the firepod crashes hardcore right after the warranty expires
and that the alesis' sofware is sketchy from the getgo
but i have the alesis dm5 for my triggers and it was been nothing but amazing
which is why i would lean towards the alesis

any experiences or opinions would be very welcomed
before my broke ass spends a lot on anything besides beer

the alesis gives you more expandibility options, I've never used one before, but they are probably pretty even sonically. I used to have a firepod and had some issues with it
 
I had a Firepod from 3 years and never had an issue with it...
Most people say it´s not good for a mobile rig, but I you set it a leave it like that is all good... :)

(btw, get a firewire card with VIA or TexasIns. chipset for any firewire soundcar)
