having trouble getting Consistant sound quality. i'm recording in a regular furnished room (no choice really). have peavey backstage amp with good mic&preamp (art tupemp) into a SB Live card. is there a norm/axiom for the preamp settings etc? still not sure if high input/low output settings the best. i found that vocals and guitar can have very different settings!...(mic distance from amp is a biggy to)
also, i found that the mic only works when plugged into the micjak (to me, duh). where as the directions say to go into the line-in. anyone know what this is?? one other person has to do this but everyone else and all reading material says to go into the line-in...weird.
if anything, are u supposed to have the record level meter peaking right around the "0" level? why is that as i find stuff sounds less hissy if at a lower level......
