I'm working on my recording chain. Right now I'm using a builtin preamp on a Mackie 1202 VLZ. Is this good enough or can I do way better by running the Mic through a rack mountable preamp?
Honestly Jerry... as a general rule of thumb in home recording, if you don't understand what it is, or what it does, you're not ready, you don't need it yet... If you're unhappy with audio results, look towards technique first, if you're happy with the results, there's no need to spend money... yetLet me research preamps some and I'll get back with. I don't understand them enough to even ask a good question. Thanks.
