preamp comparison

i would never go for the seventh circle. i emailed them for prices and for 2 of the api type knock offs was the same price as a real api lunchbox modules. im not that stupid. if you do the soldering its cheaper but why not just get the real deal. if they lower the price they mite get some business but it aint gonna be me.

1. Because you can mix and match a Neve, API, Hardy, and Millenia style pre in a single chassis.
2. Eight channels of unassembled A12 - $2893. Eight channels of API with lunchbox and power supply - $~7000 from Mercenary. I'm sorry but that's not even close.
3. Even assembled, the A12s are about $500 per channel versus $725 for the 512s.
4. Some folks prefer the A12s to the API in many cases.

Because then you don't get to build them! ;)
And yeah, what cominginsecond said. Ditto.

SCA rules. API rules. If you aren't cool enough to build them yourself, then yeah, maybe it is better to just buy the API 512's. You can get them cheaper here: http://www.primalgear.com/apipre008.html
But man is it great having Nerve clones, AyePeeEye clones, and Johny Hard clones all in one convenient box.
