Power Tube recommendations (6L6)

I need some new power-tubes for my Mesa 2:100 rectifier power amp.
I definitely want to stick with the 6L6. I play mainly hard rock/metal so I like a fair amount of gain. Does anybody have any recommendations? Chinese vs Russian? Any advice would help, thanks.

I just use the Mesa tubes. They sound great.

Svetlana always seemed to make nice tubes. I've heard mixed reviews about Chinese tubes, especially Ruby Tubes. I hear that some Chinese tubes are pretty damn good, I hear some either don't sound very good or don't last very long.

I forget what I have in my Mesa now, I should check when I get home.

I just use the Mesa tubes. They sound great.

Yeah I might stick with those. But I have heard some bad things about chinese tubes, mostly their short life spans.

Yeah, Doug's the man.......I get all my tube from him.

SED's have been my fav's for the past couple of years in both 6L6 and EL34's. My boogie 50/50 has SED's in it and it was a BIG improvment over the stock Mesa's!

You may want to have you're amp tech remove the fixed bias circuit and install a bias pot, that way you can warm it up a bit to where it really should be for the best "tone" (IMO)
