Here's the tape machine the pictures of the head block came from. Again, opinions? Thanks again.

Looks like its in nice cosmetic condition...nice home made wooden cases too!

But, none of those shots clearly and closely enough show the condition of the heads and guides.

What, if anything, was claimed by the seller about them?

Cheers! :)

Seller told me they are the original heads. He took the shots himself on my first post yesterday. They kinda look worn but kinda don't. The machine as a whole looks almost "to" clean. The custome case cost him some bucks!

Looks clean, heads will tell the whole story, if you do a visit, just play the MRLS and see how good the playback is. Not a total indication, but it can help assess. Pay special attention to the high frequencies. One other good indicator is that the buttons are not worn. The little black signs on them usually wear out pretty fast, both on the locator and the machine.

I guess the thing looks so clean and pretty cool also. My MSR 16 poop out and still trying to get get it going. Not sure to get another tape machine or get an HD-24 and be done with it. It's just for a small home one-man project studio.

If the heads are good, with all the goodies included that maybe still a good deal for that amount. Think of how much maintenance you can do yourself, these little beasts need constant attention. If you want to remain on the analog world this is a good machine. You can also look for an Otari mx70 that is harder to find but superior.

I had a Mx 70 16 track and loved it, still kicking myself for selling it. I enjoy doing maintenance on these machines and have most of the equipment/test gear. I did look (maybe not hard enough?) but can't find one for sale. Even with the TASCAM M3500 board I had, it still sounded good. I emailed the seller about the "paper trick" but no replys yet. Thanks again for the tip!

Im kinda late on this thread, but man this machine is so beautiful that I made it my desktop background !!! :D
