Popping and Clicking with M-Audio Mobile Pre/Ableton Live setup

Hey Guys! So I am wanting perform with my Akai MPD32 with Ableton Live 8. I bought an M-Audio MobilePre for an external interface today, but it stutter's on a fixed pattern of every few seconds running Ableton. I've put the samples really high to see (1900), but still there is popping, just slightly less. What could it be? Normal ASIO drivers don't stutter, but these do. Thanks guys!

Thanks so much DD83, sorry for the delay, I have been in NC doing a service project for the past several days. Would this take care of the latency issue? The reason I ask is that I have a fireface 800 that I use to record from my desktop (6gb of ram), and it still has a lot of pops and clicks. I find it frustrating that a free program online runs better than the drivers for these several $100+ pieces of equipment. Thanks, it's much appreciated!
