Please help with midi controller

Ok here is what im using

Sonar 2 with a delta 1010.


Here i what I want to do.

Im looking for a midi controller with midi in/out and an audio out so I can run it to the board and hear what Im doing. I have tried the soft synth route but I really dont like that. I was using an RS9 and that worked out great.

Do they make a midi controller or should I just get a small keyboard.

The only thing I use midi for now is drums and somtimes some strings. So Im not looking to spend a ton. Thanks.
 
If you want an audio out you need something that has sounds on it, not just a MIDI controller keyboard.

If you didn't like softsynths you won't like the sound of a small keyboard either, probably.

Decent MIDI synths start at above $500, maybe less if you can get an old used one.
