Playing monitors on a compact disc

Hey guys, quick question:

Is it alright to plug my yamaha hs50m (active) monitors directly in to a compact disc player (1/4 inch to rca). I had a look at the manual and it only specified pluging in to a computer or mixer so im not sure. I tried it, and played a radiohead song and i found it sounded good, i could hear the effects on the voice and the guitar alot better. but then i tried it on a three days grace cd and the vocals were really low and it didnt sound right.

if what you mean is "is it ok to plug a CD player directly into my Yamaha monitors" then yes.

The other thing that could have happend is no volume control rip your face full level..
Obviously that dudn't happen

Exactly..!.Also, this would be the most pure route ( nothing else in the signal path) and probably hear exactly what your CD's music sounds llike..But as mixsit stated, without a volume control, could get scary really fast..!..Good luck..

Of course, being active monitors, you should have a volume control on them to stop your face being blown off.
