Hey guys. I want to get a pearloid pickguard for my x-plorer. Do any of you know of a website where i can order one?
 
I adopted this Chinese orphan squire strat a while ago and I am trying to make it into this Studio 54, Nile Rogers Disco slut for this new band I'm putting together,

I bought a prewired pickguard from Guitar fetish. It was $40. This Squire has the bathtub routing, so I could put whatever combo of pickups I wanted. I opted for the two chrome Humbuckers with the mother of pizza vomit red "tortoise" pickguard. Creme knob and switch cover, of course. The black paintjob is pretty decent on the guitar, so I decided to make it for showin' and not for blowin'. Like it's still gonna be a chinese squire when I'm done.

Anyway, I don't know whether it's GF's pickguard or the night shift on the chinese routing crew, but the pole pieces are gonna miss the strings by a significant distance, I fear. I was thinking of where I gotta file the plastic to get it to line up. It looks like I some of that body is gonna have to go to accomodate the tone control (or maybe I will delete it).

So, moral to the story, don't get the cheapest piece of crap pickguard so that your holes and neck and bridge and knobs and shit won't fit the body anymore.

This Disco slut guitar is gonna be tits, though. I have real tuners and a bridge and the red pickguard looks so porno-soundtrack. Will post a pic someday.

Send it back. Jay seems to be good about defects. I got a one-humbucker strat 'guard in the same color, it fit well enough, maybe not perfect, but none of these things are standardized. I think one screw hole lined up, the rest, I drilled. The cut-outs for the neck joint, pickups and bridge were fine.

I have no idea what is in the waer where you are from but they need to pump some into Vt. +1 for crazy.

Oh, baby. I assembled the Disco Slut. It definitely has a different sound with the humbuckers. I was after that middle position me-ooo sound and this has it in spades. It's nice that it plays like a strat, sort of. A strat stolen by gypsies and raised by chinese provincial farmers. I don't want to take any pics yet, because she's a vain bitch and wants just the right strap. Overall, it's been a pretty satisfying project.
