PG and SM

What the hell is the difference in the pg Shure series? Are they any good? I am looking at the pg 56 for tom mics. Comes with the mount and a xlr cable for $40. I almost just have to buy them to find out. Has anyone used them for recording? Let me know the honest opinion.

I have not personally used any of the PG mics, but the PG stands for "Performance Gear". Shure does not really reccomend them for recording, and the SM's are the standard series. Most of what I read about the PG mics is not flattering.

Check out orangecountyspeaker.com if you want a usable dynamic mic for that kind of money. The gls es-57 will serve you better than any pg by shure. Do a search on these forums about it to find out more.
