Outboard Gear??????

I've been mixing in Pro Tools for a while now and have always been mixing in the box. I want to start using the compression from my Focusrite Voicemaster Pro on some vocals and guitar that have already been recorded. Can someone please tell me what inputs and outputs i need to run and what i need to set the imputs and outputs to in protools on my audio track. I am using a Digi 002 mixer unit. Sry for the noobish question.

You generally run outboard gear through the send and return of the mixer. I believe that on the DIGI 002 that is the send/insert. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
