theres a 1820 and a 1820M.....

the 1820 has the same converters as the 0404...the 1820M has the better converters......

the unit belongs to a friend of mine, who is famous for buying a myriad of pigs in the proverbial poke.

worst case scenario: if it's a garden variety 1820 sans 'M'....is it still functional with Sonar Pro?

Thanks much! i appreciate your feedback

OK, but I'm still confused; I went to the emu forum and there are people who have big problems with these cards. So I don't know what to do. And I think converters on 0404 are better (SNR 111/116dB), while on Audiophile only SNR 104/100dB. Could someone explain that to me?

How good are converters on AP in comparison to 0404? Which are better?

And stability; which card is in general more stable?

SNR isn't everything ... and the Audiophiles are very reliable cards and have mature drivers.

I've not used an E-Mu so I can't compare.

The driver issues have been, as best I can tell, resolved. The stories heard about were for the first rev of the drivers.

The 1820M is still the best card in its class for the money.
