Ohms, Ohms, Ohms!

So my bandmate's got an early 70's Concert Lead and we're looking at this cab:

But we're worried that it since it doesn't have a 4 ohm input, too much power will be cut at 16 ohms. So, is it possible to switch the cab to stereo (8 ohms) per side and run each output of the amp into a side to get a 4 ohm load, to get the full 150 watts of his amp?

You could, but the two outputs of the amp are just parallel connections. You might as well just rewire the cab so that the 4 16 ohm drivers are all in parallel; that would make it a 4 ohm cab. You don't need two speaker cables.

IMPORTANT: You need to be absolutely sure that his amp can handle a 4 ohm load>

Yeah. It's 4 ohm amp. Cool, just had to make sure it was safe. If we pick up this cab which I'm pretty sure were doing in the next day or so. We not gonna have he time to rewire it til after a few gigs.

Since it's a 16ohm cab it can be wired 4 ohms mono.

a 4x12 that is 16ohm either has 4ohm speakers or 16ohms speakers. my bet is the speakers are 16ohm.

in either case the cab can be wired to 4ohms mono.
