Nuendo and samples

Recently recorded my buddy with an acoustic and vocals.
using Nuendo into an HP laptop (vista) with the firepod.
Recording sounds good and now I want to drop some percussion loops into it.
Downloaded some loops and when I drop them into a track, they are way slower and have a slapback type echo on them.
anyone know what i might be doing wrong.

Here are the first things that pop to mind:

1. The samples are a different sample rate than your session

2. The session tempo is set much slower than the loops tempo

3. Both

Take a look at the manual and make sure everything is flying right. Each track has a few different modes it can be in, you have to have it in the right mode and the session tempo has to relate to the loop tempo.
