Noisy fan

My fan didn't used to be noisy but it started to be. It sounded like it was hitting a wire or something. I opened my cpu and found out that it was the fan inside the power supply. So I opened the power supply and I can't find anything wrong. What might be causing it? Can the fans on the power supply be replaced or do I have to replace the entire ps? any input would be much appreciated. thanks

your fan is probably starting to go. it could last months longer, but fans are so cheap you'll be wanting to get a new one soon, instead of listening to it slowly die. you can most likely replace it for around $10.

New fan $5 US ... New power supply $40 US ... There are evn companies that sell special "whisper" fans that are very quiet. Spendy though.

i just bought some panaflos from SVC...Pushes alot air and are rated under 20.1 dB.

Thanks, I think I'll change just the fan for the moment. I'll check those brands out.

Panaflos kick a$$... I bought 4 fans for my case.. Dead quiet and my case temps dropped 10 degrees.

I also bought the ZALMAN 460 psu. Again dead quiet.

Try replacing fans first.
