Noise Reduction

hey there

i am recording simple acoustic songs with my
rascam 8 track. the problem is there is always static noise in the background when
you turn up the music a little.
i tried different ways to limit it, turn
down the high freq, experiment with the mics,
everything. there is always this static noise. could be tape hiss but its way to loud
for that. i tried to limit it with programs
like cooledit and soundforge. no such luck,
its still there. so, i dunno what to do
next, anyone can help?

thanks,
sp

Have you placed your recorder in proximity to a source of EM or RF (Electromagnetic or Radio Frequency)interference? Power amps, guitar amps, video monitors, refrigerators, etc.can be a problem. Are you using balanced cables? How "clean" is your AC power?Have you demagnetized the heads on your recorder lately?

or could be a bad mic connection that u have recorded...(in case u didnt think of this) Try testing each of your mics and cables one by one...i have had a similar problem and it was a cable.

Or try seting up your tascam in a different room...(could be the wall outlet...)try a room with no electronics hookt up...if it works u know u have an inductance problem.
