Over the weekend I used my 2 new Rane MS1b's....
I've yet to ground these as instructed in the manual...
I'm getting this "crackle" noise every 30 seconds or so....
First I thought it was the air conditioners in the house....so I shut them down.....noise still there....then shut basicly everything in the house down except the refrigerator....
Then I thought maybe one is defective....Used them one at a time and on both I'm still getting this noise....So I doubt its a defect...
I've read that grounding these units "opened" the sound up, but never this noise I'm getting....
I then used my other preamp (VTB-1) w/ the same mic cords....no noise...
finally using all the same cords going directly in to my VS2480...no noise....
Any thoughts?
BTW...I was very impressed w/ the quality of the sound I was getting ... minus this crackle...
Also...I used both dynamic and condensors as well.....(57's and C4's)
