Hey, so what do you think of this one?

I've been doing weird instrumental things here and there the last few months with a few silly lyrics thrown in just to give them some structure or a focal point, but I haven't come up with any for this one yet. I've used 19 of the 24 tracks I have available so far, so what if anything should I do? I like it just fine as an instrumental I guess, but it's probably too long without more variation?

I dunno...any thoughts on the mix/arrangement?

Thanks,
Pete

I like it. The opening made me laugh. "...and the second coming of Jesus. Aaoogah! Aaoogah!" I dunno how you get on with Fat Fleet, but if you get stuck on this one, send it over to him. He'd eat it up. He'd do guitar work over parts of it as well. But yeah, as is, it's too long. Unless you're stoned. Maybe you should just distribute drugs with the tune.:eatpopcorn:

Very cool. Trippy. Yes it could use some more pro mixing, can't always hear all the parts. Thow in some crazy vocals. Something to break it up a bit. Drop the beat.

Thanks fuzz. I'll see if I can hire a pro :).

Yup, it probably needs some vocals. Most likely rap. I meant to drop the beat in there somewhere bu neglected to. That's a good idea too. Thanks,

I actually think this would work great as intro music for a youtube channel / product ad. Not sure what for, but definitely something. I like the groove a lot. Too long? Sure, as it doesn't move in parts like a traditional song, but it's still cool.

Very cool indeed. Love the mix and the beat and the way it is all put together. I think you could definitely stick some kinda of vox in there..probably more the rap/pop genre

Really cool. I love the tune. I just watched Ocean's 11 last weekend. It sounds a whole lot like the transition music they used in that movie. At least at the beginning. Great keyboard sounds. Good drum sounds, even for being canned. Bass part and sound are cool.

Not really much I can say to improve it. A lead guitar solo instead of one of the keyboard solo's might be a nice touch. Just a thought. Because like someone said, it was a bit long. Introducing a new instrument might help with that.

I've started singing along. If this continues, I'll send ideas for backing vocals. Oh, and since I started singing along with it, it isn't too long anymore. Very interesting. Like the Tardis. Bigger on the inside.

Cool. Thanks Eric. So, like a commercial, huh? I wonder what for...? I can hear it now...boom boom bap - "ask your doctor if cialis is right for you" - boom bap...with the two old people in separate tubs. How the hell are they ever going to have sex sitting in separate bath tubs? I never got that. Anyway, thanks for listening :)

Thank you! I'm still drawing a blank on lyrics, vocals, etc., but I haven't given up yet.

Thanks Trip. I've seen that movie and I can almost remember some of the music but not quite. I think I remember liking it though, so thanks. The first time through there's just the keyboards on top playing the simple melody, but each time through after that, there's a guitar playing along more or less in unison. I wanted to avoid any soloing per se, but maybe a different part on a guitar or another instrument entirely? I'm still not sure. It would probably be more obvious to me what was needed if there were vocals...thanks again.

It would definitely work as a movie background song! AS mentioned, some lead guitar parts rather than keys would be nice.

Thanks. Yeah, it could definitely use something. Maybe I'll fiddle with it this weekend...easy enough to add some lead guitar, but I'd rather think of some more unusual I think...we shall see.

Ok, tell the truth. The only difference is that you got stoned.

Grooooovy man.
:D

Far out brothter!

Awesome... love it! I can imagine all sorts of different vocal styles sitting pretty well with that....:thumbs up:

Hey, thanks Armistice. I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure I left room for vocals, but I bet there are...I wish I didn't hate writing lyrics so much! :) Thanks again!

Yeah, the mix and arrangement are cool, but I've not really got any idea where you'd fit vocals in. I listened a couple of times over the last few days wondering if something might come to me, but it didn't - a rap would be the obvious "get out" with all that's already going on in the mix if nothing else came to you, but you did want some vocals in there.

I agree with the general consensus that it's maybe a bit too long as is, but what you've got sounds good. Nice fat, warm low end. I enjoyed the listens - hope you manage to work out how to finish it off :)

David Holmes did the Ocean's 11 soundtrack that trip mentions. There's plenty of cool stuff on that, and worth a listen I think.

If this continues, I'll send ideas for backing vocals.

Seriously though, if you come up with anything and you have the time, let me know. Sometimes just a kernel of an idea can lead to more and different things...like harvesters and drive-bys :)

Hey rob. Thanks a bunch for giving it some thought! I appreciate it. Glad it's sounding ok to you.

I'll have to check out Mr. Holmes. Maybe if I never add vocals, I can still hope that they'll approach me when they get to Ocean's 22 or something? :)

Sure, I'm still singing along. Send me an MP3. I can't record anything to a play-only soundcloud track.

Uh, correction. I've recorded something using Reaper - it allows you to record while you listen to something else. But I can't send you an mp3 in a PM here, I think. I need an email or something.
